Eloise Page

I wanted to post before I forgot. Scott's Grandma, Eloise Page, passed away awhile ago. We went down to St George for the funeral Oct 23. She was the neatest lady, and left an awesome legacy.

On Friday we met everyone for lunch at the park, then took a tour of the old houses they lived in. Our first stop was this red brick house. Eloise and Elwood (Cutest married couple names ever, they went by Woody and Weezy) built this house, they built the garage first(left) and lived in it while they finished the house. Can you imagine living in that tiny little thing?

When we arrived we noticed it was vacant and pretty soon everyone was trickling inside to  explore. Next door is a large City Senior Citizen Building. A lady came walking over from that building to ask us what we were up to. Someone explained to her the situation and she was shocked, she explained that is was amazing we had come, because the city was planning on tearing this house down within a couple weeks to expand the Senior Citizen Building parking lot. They had torn down 3 or 4 other homes to build the Senior Citizen Building years ago but had ran out of money and had left this one. So they were just waiting to get enough money to buy this home and tear it down for parking.

I am sure the real reason they hadn't torn it down yet was just a tender mercy for Eloise's kids and grandkids. I'm sure she knew exactly what was going on and it was just a little surprise from Woody.

So Gayle and Mike asked the lady if they could take somethings from the house, like the glass knobs and original mail box and stuff like that. She said they would have to ask "So-n-so" from the City (I can't remember his name). Well turns out, they all grew up with "So-n-so" and Ric even served with him in the mission field. They all kind of giggled at this point. So they called him and of course he said that could take whatever the wanted.

As we were all standing around, someone noticed two little faint footprints in the cement with the numbers "49" carved next to them. They were Jerry's little feet, left in the cement like he was standing right there with the rest of us. (Jerry is Ric's brother, he passed away recently from cancer) So many tender mercies, it was the perfect way to start off the weekend.
Uncle Mike gave everyone $2 to spend at Judd's. All the older kids were so jealous, they had never been given that much to spend on candy as little kids. I thought that was funny.

The funeral was so simple and sweet. It was a graveside service, there were several amazing musical numbers (the Pages are very talented in the music department). Just a few words were spoken and we let off balloons.

We spent the rest of the weekend having a mini Page reunion. We got pizza and shakes from Iceberg, went to an awesome park, and went swimming. Mandy put together a slideshow of old pictures of Eloise, that was my favorite part. Its so fun to see her so young and with her little kids. There was one picture of Ric that looked just like Scott. Anyway, I guess it just reminded me of what is really important and it's a good idea to try to preserve memories to bless your kids.
