Rockin Around the Christmas Tree

Last Saturday we went to Green Canyon to chop down our first real Christmas tree. Last year we had a little one and I considered buying a new one but when I checked the prices we decided a $10 tree tag was more affordable. Besides that, we didn't feel too excited to fight the people-bomb at the stores(Randall said a people-bomb went off in Sam's Club). Annalee and I weren't too excited to hike through the mountains but the boys kept saying how fun it would be to "make memories". We married 2 sappy guys...but we love them. So we took off and it was perfect timing because there wasn't a lot of snow and the weather was really nice. We hiked around a while when we came to this clearing (top picture). The sky was insane, it was like it came out of nowhere and only lasted for a minute.

We finally found the one and it looked perfect. My dad warned us it was a little sparse, but we just ignored him and Randall did the honors of chopping it down. Which is funny because when Randall and Annalee first got married he used to wear these yellow-leather construction boots (I think he still wears them) so I would tease him that they looked like lumber-jack boots and I would sing that song to him.
-I'm a Lumber Jack and that's okay, I sleep all night and I work all day...
So one night while he was sleeping, he sat straight up and said, "I'm a lumber jack, yes a lumber jack" Then proceeded to lay down and continue sleeping. Needless to say, I think it freaked Annalee out but it was really funny.
So to see him actually cut down a tree like a real lumber jack, it was pretty cool.

Poor Mack wanted so bad to get down and play but he kept slipping and getting his hands snowy. He was a good sport though. We worried it would get dark so we kinda rushed back to the car but I really could have stayed out there all night. It was fun to run around in the forest, breath some fresh air, and find cool stuff. Like, we found this rock that looked like a taco shell, I could have climbed right in and taken a nap.

Well we got the tree home and got it all decorated. My dad was right, it is definitely a little sparse, I would classify it as a Charlie Brown tree. And it was really hard to decorate because the branches are pretty weak and sag when you hang anything on them. But it was dang fun cutting it down and "making memories."
