Second Birthday

Emlin turned 2 while we were at Bear Lake, I tried to stop it from happening but she did it anyway. Since we were at Bear Lake it seemed fitting to have a beach birthday party. I made a little sand cake in a bucket. When we lit the candle and started singing she looked thoroughly confused, but once the kids showed her what to do she was excited. Randall & Annalee made us some delicious dutch oven chicken, cheesy potatoes, and scones...mmm that sounds so good right now. Afterwards we opened presents and crashed for the evening. We had partied hard all weekend and by that night we were all pretty exhausted. Emlin loved everything she got, she was/is completely spoiled.
We just love this little munchkin. I can't get enough of her chubby cheeks, and fun personality. She loves books, her new bike, playing with babies, watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, she likes to tickle,  and riding the horses. She is really good at counting, she goes 1, 2, 7, 9, 10. She is pretty possessive right now and we are currently working on sharing skills and manners. She loves nursery, although yesterday she told a story involving hitting. I'm not sure if she was the one hitting or the one being hit. Anyway, I'm sad to see her exiting the baby stage and becoming a toddler but I'm also excited for all the fun things to come. As you can see I feel like I need to document more of our lives because life is flashing by too dang quickly. Happy Birthday Emy!

Bear Lake 2012

We are not quite sure how this happened. Scott and I were out on the boat and when we got back Emlin had dried-up sand all over her face. And look how happy it made her.
As I mentioned before we went to Bear Lake with my family a couple weeks ago. It was as magical as always. Emlin had the time of her life running around on the sand and playing in the water. She loves being around her cousins. She picked up so many new things just by being around them for a short weekend. I love these pictures of all the kids racing, Emlin was always last to make it up the hill but so proud of herself for keeping up with the other kids.

4th of July

For the fourth of July Emlin and I spent the day at the pool. It was probably the first time I have not spent the morning of the 4th of July at the Rexburg parade, I love that parade and was feeling extra homesick that day. Scott had to work (their office decided to work the holiday and take the following Friday off instead). After the pool Em and I headed to my Aunt Leeann's house in Lehi to get ready for our 4th of July feast. As soon as Scott got off he came over and we at a delicious meal. After eating we sat outside and watched the fire get bigger and bigger at American Fork canyon. A couple weeks previous to this we had a fire about a mile away from our house in Herriman, that was a scary feeling and I'm glad both of the fires were contained.
Emlin found this bucket and thought it was hilarious to put it on her head. She was a complete mess by the end of the day from all the messy treats she had eaten/smeared all over her body. We had to swing by target for a new outfit on our way to Thanksgiving Point to watch the fireworks.  I loved watching the fireworks at Thanksgiving Point, there was fun booths to walk through, they played great music, it wasn't crowded at all, and the fireworks shot up right above a giant flag. Emlin liked watching the fireworks but was a little nervous. On the drive home it was fun to see all the fireworks going off around the valley. To sum it up, the 4th is probably my favorite holiday, I'm grateful for our freedoms, we had a great time, and I can't wait for next year.

Summer Fun

1. This quilt is never going to get done. I decided on doing these little lines and man that was a bad idea because I am so sick of sewing long straight lines. Scott helped me out one night and after about 2 lines he was exhausted. Haha, we are weak.
2. Emlin loves to sweep.
3. Crazy bed hair. She woke up so happy the morning Clint stayed with us. She was laughing at him.
4. I bought myself a little basil plant and it died not too long after. Scott made fun of my poor horticulture skills but I'm blaming it on the solar tint on our windows in utah.
We went to the Herriman rodeo and Emlin loved it. The clowns were nuts, the below picture  is a clown jumping over the bulls head. This clown was rodeo entertainer of the year, he was really fun to watch.
In Herriman, we went to the pool nearly everyday and sometimes twice a day(maybe that is why my quilt is taking so long). Once in the morning and once around 5 when Scott got home. Emlin loved the pool and was pretty fearless at first. But then she fell in the pool while walking around it one time and after that she was pretty nervous. I liked it lots better when she was nervous. She calls her floatie her 'boat' and loves swimming her buddy Sophie.
That vitamin D was so good for the both of us and these pictures make me want to soak up every last second of summer.
